The Port of Montreal reports that, over the past year, Hapag Lloyd began renewing its fleet that operates between the Port of Montreal and Mediterranean ports. So far, a number of vessels have been replaced, modernizing the shipping service.
Last year, the Liverpool Express, the Detroit Express, the Dublin Express and the Livorno Express were replaced by the Mombasa Express, the Arica Express, the Dachan Bay Express and the Jakarta Express.
These sister vessels provide many advantages over their predecessors, especially in terms of environmental performance, with capacities over 4600 TEU, and 260 m in length.
This fleet modernization reflects Hapag Lloyd's commitment to improve the quality of shipping, strengthen international trade and adopt a sustainable approach.
The Mediterranean continues to be one of the Port of Montreal's main markets, alone accounting for 22% of international traffic. These vessel renewals consolidate the relationship and open the way for even more efficient and sustainable seaborne trade.
