According to the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics, total transborder freight between the U.S. and the other North American countries (Canada and Mexico) by all modes of transportation was valued at $144.8 billion in March, increasing 8.4% compared to March 2024.
Freight between the U.S. and Canada, at $67.5 billion, was up 3.7% from March 2024. Freight between the U.S. and Mexico, at $77.3 billion, was up 13.0% from March 2024.
Trucks moved $94.2 billion of freight, up 9.5% compared to March 2024 and railways moved $18.4 billion of freight, down 0.6%.
Pipelines moved $9.1 billion of freight, up 6.1% compared to March 2024, vessels moved $9.1 billion of freight, down 10.1% and air moved $6.0 billion of freight, up 35.5%.
