Great Lakes iron ore trade decreased in July

The Lake Carriers' Association reports that shipments of iron ore on the Great Lakes totaled 5.1 million tons in July, a decrease of 10.9 percent compared to 2024.

The Association notes that shipments were below the month's 5-year average by 1.7 percent.

Year-to-date the iron ore trade stands at 21.8 million tons, a decrease of 14.9 compared to a year ago.

Iron ore shipments were 7.3 percent below their 5-year average for the first seven months of the year.
