The U.S. Freight Transportation Services Index (TSI), fell 1.2% in October from September, falling for the second consecutive month, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS).

The Freight TSI decreased in October due to decreases in rail carloads, rail intermodal, pipeline, and trucking while air freight and water volumes increased.

From October 2024 to October 2025 the index fell 1.2%. The freight TSI measures the amount of freight carried by the for-hire transportation industry.
