Canada's two main railways announced annual grain transport records

Canadian National Railway (CN) announced that it closed the 2025�26 crop year with a record movement of more than 33.8 million metric tonnes (MMT) of grain from Western Canada, exceeding the previous record of 31.2 MMT set in the 2024-25 crop year.

CN's record-setting year was capped by a strong finish in July, when CN moved 2.62 MMT of grain, surpassing the previous July record of 2.43 MMT set in 2020.

Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) also broke its all-time volume record for transporting Canadian grain and grain products by moving 30.66�million metric tonnes (MMT) during the 2025-2026 crop year.

This new CPKC record annual volume exceeded the previous record set in the 2020�2021 crop year by approximately 72,500 metric tonnes.
