Government of Canada celebrated the grand opening of the CANXPORT facility at the Port of Prince Rupert in British Columbia last week.

Supported in part by a Government of Canada investment of nearly $50 million through the National Trade Corridors Fund (NTCF), the new facility will increase Canada's export capacity, strengthen key trade corridors and help Canadian goods reach global markets.

The opening of CANXPORT marks a significant milestone for Canada's trade infrastructure. Located on Ridley Island, British Columbia, the new facility is designed to handle at least 400,000 shipping containers each year, with the potential to increase capacity to 750,000, and will support exports such as forestry products, agricultural products, and plastic resins.

By expanding capacity at the Port of Prince Rupert and making better use of industrial lands on Ridley Island, CANXPORT will improve supply chain resilience, support trade diversification and create new opportunities for Canadian exporters.
