Results published by the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI) indicate that the Total Cost of ground transportation for Canadian Shippers increased by 0.06% in June from May costs.

The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, decreased by 1.48% in June.

Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers increased in June. Fuel was 34.01% of Base Rates in June versus 33.72% in May. Last year in June, the Average Fuel Surcharge was 22.76%.

"Total Freight Costs increased 0.06% in June. Domestic TL and Cross Border Truckload increased in June while Domestic LTL and Cross Border LTL decreased. Year over year, Total Domestic LTL and Total Cross Border Truckload segments are above last year costs, while Domestic Truckload and Cross Border LTL continue to be below last year costs," said Doug Payne, President of CGFI sponsor Nulogx.
