Statistics Canada reports that aircraft movements at Canada's major and select small airports totalled 546,020 in June 2026, down 3.2% from June 2025. Local movements declined 6.5% year over year, while itinerant movements fell 1.7%.

Local aircraft movements, often associated with flight training activity, were down 6.5% (-11,375 movements) in June compared with the same month the previous year. Of the five largest declines, four were at airports in British Columbia.

Domestic itinerant movements also fell on a year-over-year basis in June, down 2.1% to 328,465. Pitt Meadows, British Columbia (-2,426 movements) and Oshawa, Ontario (-2,203) led the year-over-year declines. Conversely, the highest growth was reported at Vancouver Harbour, British Columbia (+1,523 movements) and at Montr�al Metropolitan (St-Hubert), Quebec (+1,469), where a new passenger terminal opened in mid-June.

Transborder aircraft movements (to and from the United States) edged down 0.4% (-171 movements) year over year in June. The largest decreases were at Vancouver International, British Columbia (-577 movements), Montr�al/Pierre Elliott Trudeau International, Quebec (-276) and Calgary International, Alberta (-185). Declines were partially offset by growth at Toronto/Billy Bishop Toronto City, Ontario (+470 movements), Halifax/Robert L. Stanfield International, Nova Scotia (+205) and John C. Munro Hamilton International, Ontario (+168).

In contrast, other international movements increased 3.4% in June to 17,250, the 16th consecutive month of year-over-year growth. Toronto/Lester B. Pearson International, Ontario (+438 movements) led the increase, followed by Halifax/Robert L. Stanfield International, Nova Scotia (+138).
