Statistics Canada reports that Canadian Level I air carriers flew 7.6 million passengers on scheduled and charter services in June, 0.5% more than in June 2025.
The number of passenger-kilometres rose 1.5% year over year to 21.7 billion, while capacity increased 0.9% to 25.5 billion available seat-kilometres. Both growth rates were the lowest since the declines observed in August 2025, when a labour disruption resulted in hundreds of cancelled flights. The passenger load factor (the ratio of passenger-kilometres to available seat-kilometres) was 85.2% in June 2026, up from 84.6% in June 2025.
Each passenger travelled an average of 2,863 kilometres in June 2026, up 1.1% from the same month a year earlier.
Level I carriers flew 194,000 hours in June, the same as in June 2025, and generated $3.0 billion in total operating revenue, up 12.1% from June 2025.
