The Association of American Railroads (AAR) announced that the North American rail volume for the week ending October 3, 2026, on 9 reporting U.S., Canadian and Mexican railroads totaled 335,068 carloads, up 1.6 percent compared with the same week last year, and 386,372 intermodal units, up 6.9 percent compared with last year.
Total U.S. carloads for the week ending October 3 were 230,711 carloads, up 2.4 percent compared with the same week in 2025, while U.S. weekly intermodal volume was 299,001 containers and trailers, up 7.4 percent compared to 2025.
Canadian railroads reported 92,532 carloads for the week, down 0.8 percent, and 73,192 intermodal units, up 0.7 percent compared with the same week in 2025.
Mexican railroads reported 11,825 carloads for the week, up 6.4 percent compared with the same week last year, and 14,179 intermodal units, up 36.7 percent.
