Exports from Valenciaport grew by 5.68% in September, while imports increased by 11.68%. These figures were driven by a 5.48% increase in container traffic, reaching 498,837 TEUs, while tonnage grew by 2.05% to 6.6 million metric tons last month.
According to data from the Statistical Office of the Port Authority of Valencia (APV), on a year-over-year basis, Valenciaport handled 5,623,753 TEUsjust 30 containers fewer than in the previous twelve months and 78.7 million metric tons (-1.56%) passed through the facilities in Valencia, Sagunto and Gandia. The year-to-date total stands at 59.2 million metric tons (-2.13%) and 4.2 million TEUs (-0.91%).
During September, transshipment trends also showed an improvement compared to the trend for the rest of the year. Over the past month, 179,002 full containers in transit were recorded, representing a 0.82% decrease compared to the same month last year. This decline, which is considerably more moderate than that observed in the year-to-date figures, helps improve the overall traffic balance.
